Introduction to Diabetes & Endocrine Unit

Introduction

In line with our core functions, research activities of this Unit are focused on endocrine-related areas notably diabetes, metabolic syndrome, obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Current main on-going research project in this Unit is "Biomarkers for diabetes and its complications". The Unit is also part of the research team members in the sub-group of the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2011 to determine the prevalence of chronic kidney disease among adults in Peninsular Malaysia. In addition, the Unit is also a collaborator to a research project by National Diabetes Institute (NADI) to look at the effectiveness of various healthy lifestyle intervention programs to prevent diabetes among prediabetes subjects.
