The Health Risk Assessment (HRA) Unit covers a broad range of disciplines related to the impact of the environment on human health and well-being, with a primary focus on environmental toxicology and microbiology. Supported by state-of-the-art laboratories, we conduct comprehensive analyses that span from analytical chemistry to molecular microbiology.
Our scope includes evaluating the potential adverse effects of environmental hazards on human health. This process involves identifying environmental hazards, determining exposure pathways, assessing health impacts, and estimating potential risks to individuals or communities. Our focus includes the analysis of chemicals and emerging pollutants, such as heavy metals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), and pesticides, as well as microbiological agents like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.
