Introduction to Integrative Health Information Unit

. Last Updated: 09 November 2024Hits: 19401

Welcome to the Integrative Health Information Unit!

The Integrative Health Information Unit is part of the Herbal Medicine Research Centre (HMRC), dedicated to gathering and disseminating validated information on medicinal plants to support the development of integrated medicine. Established in 2001 at Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur, the Unit has since expanded its literature search capacity and human resources to produce rapid reviews in response to inquiries. Our office is now located at the National Institutes of Health Malaysia in Setia Alam, Selangor.

The Unit’s main activities focus on compiling information on medicinal plants to create a comprehensive database containing ethnomedicinal and scientific references, serving healthcare professionals, researchers, and the public.

The Unit’s theme centres on evidence-based publications including books (e.g., compendiums, monographs), technical reports, infographics, online articles, and journal papers. We prioritise current issues relevant to evidence-based information for herbal medicine and T&CM. Plans to expand the Unit’s capabilities are already underway, with training programs in progress to equip staff with skills in in-silico approaches. This initiative aims to advance herbal medicine discovery research by identifying new therapeutic potentials of medicinal plants across various pharmacological targets.
