Activities of Special Protein Unit

1.  Diagnostic Services

The UPK unit conducts diagnostic test for amino acid screening and specialized tests for Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation (CDG).

 

2.  Research

The unit is involved in studying conditions like Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation (CDG), alpha-1-antitrypsin phenotyping (AATP), Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) and Glycated Albumin (GA) in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM).

 

3.  Biomarker Discovery

Through advanced protein analysis techniques, the unit works on identifying biomarkers that can serve as indicators for early diagnosis, disease progression, and treatment response, which is critical for patient management and personalized medicine.

 

4.  Collaborative Research

The Special Protein Unit collaborates with various national and international organizations, contributing to regional and global research on protein disorders and sharing findings that advance medical knowledge.

 

5.  Consultation and Training Services

This service leverages the expertise of UPK experienced pathologists and specialized staff, who are well-versed in advanced protein analysis and diagnostic techniques related to proteomics and metabolic disorders. UPK conducted hands on and specialized workshop in protein-related diagnostics and the latest advancements in proteomics.
