The Specimen Management Unit (UPS) plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate, efficient, and secure handling of biological samples in a clinical or research setting. This unit is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of specimens—from collection and labeling to storage, transportation, and eventual analysis.
By maintaining rigorous standards for specimen integrity, traceability, and compliance with regulatory guidelines, the Specimen Management Unit helps to guarantee the quality and reliability of diagnostic and research outcomes. Through advanced tracking systems and meticulous protocols, we ensure that specimens are properly identified, preserved, and processed to support a wide range of scientific studies, clinical diagnostics, and personalized medicine initiatives.
To ensure the diagnostic tests offered in IMR are systematically and efficiently managed, UPS had successfully developed in-house web-based database for specimen management. The web-based database is known Specimen Management Information System (SMIS) has been developed since September 2017. SMIS is being upgraded and the module for laboratory test result management in IMR has been improved whereby all test results will be uploaded into SMIS. It enable the results be accessed by Hospital through the on-line System.
In the next phase, UPS has plan to develop Portal Apps for IMR Test List to ease customers on getting updated information regarding tests offered by IMR.
